Gary Brown grew up in California, stayed in state for college and has spent the entire season in the Cal League. But he might not be hanging around the state much longer.

The Giants' No. 1 prospect went 5-for-5 with two homers, two doubles, five runs scored and four RBIs in Class A Advanced San Jose's 11-5 win over Stockton on Thursday.

Brown led off the bottom of the first inning with his 11th home run of the year, laced an RBI double to left field in the second and added another RBI two-bagger in the fourth. He led off the sixth with his second longball of the night, and for good measure, finished with an infield single in the bottom of the eighth. He scored every time he got on base.

The 2010 first-round pick (24th overall) is 15-for-27 with nine runs and eight RBIs during a six-game hitting streak.

Brown, a former Cal State-Fullerton standout, leads the California League with 170 hits and 12 triples. His five runs Thursday give him 102 on the season, just behind Inland Empire's Matt Long, who leads the league with 104.

The 22-year-old's .331 batting average is fifth in the league, and although he has not stolen a base since the first game of his hitting streak, his 47 steals are tied for second.

Ari Ronick (3-1) tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win for San Jose.
