Tyler Moore delivered the game winning single in the bottom on the eighth inning, scoring Chris McConnell from third base. Tim Pahuta homered in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 1-1. For Pahuta, it was his 14th home run on the season.
Erik Arnesen started and went seven strong innings for the Sens, allowing just a an unearned run while striking out nine batters. Cory VanAllen earned the win with a scoreless eighth and Rafael Martin struck out the final two batters for his 13th save on the season.
Tyler Moore and Tim Pahuta both had two hits in the game.
The Senators magic number to clinch the division is down to one, which would happen if the Senators win any of their remaining five games or if Richmond loses any of their remaining five games. The Senators clinched the playoff spot by virtue of Bowie's 2-0 loss to Altoona.
The final game of the four-game series is Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. with RH Stephen Strasburg making a rehab start for the Senators against RH Michael Lee for Portland. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:50 p.m.
