Games 1 and 2 of the series will be played in New Hampshire. The Flying Squirrels will host Game 3 of the series at The Diamond in Richmond on Friday. Games 4 and 5, if necessary, will also be played in Richmond on Saturday and Sunday.
Speaking about the friendly wager, Governor McDonnell commented, "This year has been a great year in sports for Richmond. We saw the basketball teams from the University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University advance to the NCAA Sweet 16 and Final Four respectively. Now, the Richmond Flying Squirrels, in only their second season, are playing in the Eastern League Championship Series this week. The Flying Squirrels swept the Western Division Championship Series last week, and I know they will have the same success this week against the Fisher Cats. I look forward to another series victory by the Flying Squirrels, as well as enjoying some pure New Hampshire maple syrup from Governor Lynch. I encourage the Commonwealth of Virginia to 'Go Nuts!' and help cheer on the Richmond Flying Squirrels to victory this Friday at The Diamond."
Governor Lynch added, "The New Hampshire Fisher Cats are a talented team and a great organization that represents our state and our people so well. Winning the Eastern League Championship would be a great way for the Fisher Cats to finish a tremendous season. New Hampshire maple syrup is by far the best, but it looks like Governor McDonnell might have to wait until next season to enjoy our maple syrup as our Fisher Cats are playing some great baseball. I am looking forward to a great series and go Fisher Cats!"
