At the plate, the IronPigs went down flailing. Joe Martinez was able to rack up 15 strikeouts as he allowed just three hits and one run in his seven innings of work. Chen Lee would then come in to work the eighth and allowed one run on one hit for the hold before Cory Burns came in to cap it off in the ninth.
The IronPigs may have had a chance to do something in the ninth if not for a top of the inning that featured a double off of Juan Perez followed by two consecutive walks with two outs to load the bases. With the bases juiced, Chance Chapman came in and walked three straight hitters to the put the game well out of reach for the IronPigs, before being lifted in favor of Mike Zagurski, who was able to induce a groundout to third base to bring an end to the inning.
The IronPigs will send Ryan Edell to the mound in the must-win fourth game of the series on Friday night.
