Franklin smacked a first-pitch fastball from No. 1 overall Draft pick Gerrit Cole (Pirates) over the center-field wall for a two-run homer in the first inning, then doubled in the second and plated two runs with another two-base hit in the third. The switch-hitting shortstop also singled in the fifth.
The offense proved more than enough for Mariners left-hander Danny Hultzen, who pitched two hitless innings. Selected third overall in this year's Draft, he struck out the side on 14 pitches in the opening frame and worked around a one-out walk to Nationals prospect Bryce Harper in the second.
Wil Myers, the Royals' No. 1 prospect, added three hits, two RBIs and a stolen base out of the No. 3 spot, while Braves prospect Joe Terdoslavich plated three runs and finished a triple shy of the cycle.
Harper, MLB.com's No. 2 prospect, finished 0-for-2 with a sacrifice fly and Brian Dozier (Twins) smacked a solo homer for the East Division. Cole did not make it out of the first inning and was charged with five runs on four hits and a walk. Recap | Gameday box score
