Wings announce spring schedule

The Rochester Red Wings today announced a 16-game Spring Training schedule leading up to their 2012 regular season opener vs. the Syracuse Chiefs on Thursday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse.

The Red Wings spring training schedule begins Wednesday, March 14 and runs through Saturday, March 31. The Red Wings will break camp in Ft. Myers and head to Rochester on Monday, April 2nd. Spring training home games will be played at the Ft. Myers Lee County Sports Complex.

Twins Minor League players will report to camp in Ft. Myers, FL Tuesday, March 6. The first full squad workout is scheduled for Thursday, March 8.

The Rochester Red Wings are the Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. The Red Wings are operated by Rochester Community Baseball, Inc. and have been a community-owned pro baseball franchise since 1957; Rochester's pro baseball history dates back to 1885.

The Red Wings and Frontier Field have been selected to host the New York Yankees' Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre club for 37 games in 2012, while the Scranton ballpark undergoes major renovations. Wings fans will benefit from eight additional Red Wings vs. Yankees games here, plus 29 more games featuring top Yankees prospects against other International League clubs.
