TROY, NY- The Tri-City ValleyCats announced today that 1994 Albany-Colonie Yankee Derek Jeter will be the inaugural member of their brand new "Heritage Series Bobblehead Collection." The collection will pay tribute to those who have played professional baseball in New York's Capital Region.

The Heritage Series Derek Jeter Bobblehead, presented by Berkshire Bank, will be given away to the first 1,500 fans that enter Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Heritage Night, Monday, August 20. That night the 'Cats play host to the Staten Island Yankees, affiliate of the New York Yankees, beginning at 7pm.

Jeter was selected sixth overall by the New York Yankees in the 1992 Major League Baseball Draft, and in 1994 was a member of the Double A Albany-Colonie Yankees. Jeter played 34 games with Albany-Colonie, who played their homes games at Heritage Park in Colonie from 1985-1994. He made his debut with the New York Yankees in 1995 and since then has been named Captain, been a part of 12 All-Star Games, won five World Series Championships and most recently joined the 3,000 hit club.

"There is a long-standing tradition of professional baseball here in the Capital Region and we feel this is a great way to honor a future Hall of Famer whose path to Cooperstown will have run through our local community," said ValleyCats Vice President and General Manager Rick Murphy.

"We are excited to partner with the ValleyCats not only on their new Heritage Series Bobblehead Collection, but also to bring fun, affordable, family entertainment to the Capital District. At Berkshire Bank we are proud to be an active member of the cities and towns that we serve, and so pleased to support organizations like the ValleyCats helping to make our community the best place to live and work. We invite everyone to come and enjoy the games this season, and we look forward to a special night in August when we are planning some extra exciting activities," said Heather Lashway, Vice President, New York Regional Manager of Berkshire Bank.

ValleyCats fans will have the opportunity to choose how the Derek Jeter bobblehead looks through a poll on their Facebook page. Options will be given on whether or not it will be a fielding, hitting or baserunning pose.

The only current way to purchase tickets to Heritage Night, thus guaranteeing a Jeter bobblehead, is through the ValleyCats six-game Heritage Plan or season tickets. Individual tickets will go on-sale on Major League Baseball's Opening Day, Wednesday, April 4. To order the Heritage Plan or season tickets, log on to the ValleyCats website at www.tcvalleycats.com, call 518-629-2287 or visit the ValleyCats Box Office located at Joseph L.
