Spokane, WA--Robbie Ross became the 26th Spokane Indian to make the Texas Rangers roster since 2003 after a strong showing in Spring Training landed him a spot in the Rangers bullpen. The lefty was nearly unhittable in his first big league camp, allowing just two runs in 12 innings and striking out 11 batters.

Ross, a second round pick out of high school in 2008, started 15 games for the Indians in 2009, posting a 4-4 record with a 2.66 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 74 innings pitched. Though undersized at 5'11", Ross dominated Northwest League hitters with pinpoint command and a bulldog mentality on the mound; traits that would impress the Rangers coaching staff this spring.

"He earned that spot. We didn't give him anything," said Rangers manager Ron Washington. "I'm pretty excited about that. We didn't have to hand anything out. He earned it. I liked his maturity. I liked his demeanor on the mound. He attacked the zone and will continue to do that."

The Texas Rangers open the 2012 regular season against the Chicago White Sox on Friday, April 6th at the Ballpark in Arlington.
