Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (4-1) won their third straight game on a Caleb Ramsey RBI single in the 11th inning to put the Suns over the Lexington Legends (1-4), 8-7, at Municipal Stadium on Monday night.
Third baseman Matt Skole blasted a first inning grand slam (1) and took over the South Atlantic League lead in RBIs with 11. Washington Nationals Rick Ankiel and Michael Morse both contributed to the Suns offense with Ankiel going 2-for-3 with a home run, 3 RBI and two runs scored. Morse was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Suns pitcher Bobby Lucas earned the win, pitching a 1-2-3 ninth 11th inning. Starter Chris Mckenzie did not factor in the decision, lasting four innings and giving up three runs on five hits. Legends reliever Luis Cruz (0-1) took the loss, allowing the winning run in 1.2 innings pitched.
The Suns will host the Legends in game two of the three-game set at Municipal Stadium on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Wirkin Estevez (0-0) is scheduled to start for the Suns.
