The Pawtucket Red Sox thumped the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 8-0, Tuesday afternoon in the series finale from McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. With the win the Paw Sox split the four-game set with the IronPigs and drop Lehigh Valley to 4-2 on the season.

After a strong outing from Dave Bush, the Paw Sox pounded away against the IronPigs bullpen. Pawtucket took the game over in the sixth inning with a two-run home run from Mauro Gomez and a three-run blast off the bat of Daniel Nava. Both home runs came off 'Pigs reliever Raul Valdes.

Will Middlebrooks' long ball highlighted a two-run eighth inning for the Red Sox off Jeremy Horst to round out the scoring.

Bush (0-1) suffered the tough-luck loss allowing just one unearned run on two hits in five innings of work; however the IronPigs offense could never get on track.

In the second, back-to-back singles from Joe Thurston and Cody Overbeck put runners on first and second with one out but three pitches later Derrick Mitchell grounded into the 5-4-3 inning-ending double play. From there, Paw Sox pitchers would face the minimum until the ninth inning.

Ross Ohlendorf earned the win for Pawtucket allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out three over six scoreless innings in his 2012 debut. Before an injury plagued 2011 season, Ohlendorf was a solid Major League starter with Pittsburgh posting a 3.98 ERA from 2009-2010.

The IronPigs return home to open a five-game homestand on Wednesday night against Bryce Harper and the Syracuse Chiefs. RHP Austin Hyatt (0-0, 3.18) will take the mound for his second start of the season at Coca-Cola Park. The Chiefs will counter with RHP Tanner Roark (0-1, 1.50).
