MLB.com's No. 6 prospect singled twice and drove in a run to extend his hitting streak to 15 games Friday as the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders beat the San Antonio Missions, 9-3.
Profar got his first hit out of the way early, beating out a grounder in the third inning. He singled home Jose Felix in the fifth and later scored on a throwing error by third baseman Edinson Rincon. Profar also reached in the ninth on a sacrifice bunt and scored on Mike Olt's seventh homer.
Profar's streak has come at the right time for the Curacao native. Entering play on April 19, the 19-year-old shortstop was batting .200. Since then, he's 19-for-59 to raise his average 62 points.
Profar, the 2011 South Atlantic League MVP, opened the season in a 2-for-26 slump. He's collected 25 hits, 12 for extra bases, over his last 19 games and is tied with teammate Engel Beltre for the league lead with four triples. Overall, he's batting .262 three homers, 11 RBIs, 18 runs scored and four stolen bases in 26 games.
Barret Loux, the Rangers' No. 19 prospect, allowed three runs on four hits over five innings to become the Minor Leagues' first six-game winner.
Olt, the Rangers' No. 3 prospect who also walked and scored twice, is tied for second in the league in homers.
