Alderson has suggested that Harvey's successes will help him develop confidence and perfect his craft, while his setbacks will teach him to persevere. On Tuesday, the seventh overall pick in the 2010 Draft overcame some shaky moments to win again.
The Mets' No. 2 prospect scattered five hits over six innings as the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons blanked the Gwinnett Braves, 3-0.
Harvey (3-1) issued three walks, struck out five and threw two wild pitches to win his third straight decision.
The 23-year-old right-hander worked with runners in scoring position in every inning except the second, but he escaped unscathed each time.
Harvey used an inning-ending double play to erase a pair of walks in the first, and catcher Drew Sutton threw out Joey Terdoslavich trying to steal second in the second following a leadoff single.
The Braves put runners on first and second with two outs in the third, but Harvey got Stefan Gartrell to ground out to shortstop. In the fourth, Ernesto Mejia singled, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch, but the University of North Carolina product extinguished the threat by striking out Terdoslavich and retiring Josh Wilson.
Harvey, ranked No. 25 on MLB.com's list of Top 100 Prospects, gave up a two-out single to Jose Constanza in the fifth and uncorked another wild pitch before stranding the runner at second. He put up another zero in the sixth by working around Drew Sutton's two-out double.
In seven International League starts, Harvey has struck out 32 batters and walked 16 over 36 innings. He's holding opponents to a .261 average, a mark that drops to .214 against left-handed hitters.
Jack Egbert worked around two hits over two innings and Fernando Cabrera struck out one in a perfect ninth to earn his league-leading eighth save.
Gwinnett starter Eric Junge (3-3) allowed three runs -- two earned -- on five hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings.
