The Flying Tigers wasted no time taking the lead in the top of the first. Luis Castillo led off the game with a double, and scored on a single from Nick Castellanos who advanced to second on the throw. An error by Tampa's first baseman would allow Avisail Garcia to reach safely and score Castellanos for a 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the second with one out, Neil Medchill stepped up to the plate and hit his fourth homerun of the season to put the T-Yanks on the board 2-1.
Ramon Flores led off the bottom of the third with a double and advanced to third on a Lakeland error. He scored on a ground out from Kyle Roller and the game was tied at two. Lakeland added a run to their count in the top of the sixth to take a 3-2 lead. With the bases loaded and one out, Hernan Perez hit a grounder and Castellanos crossed the plate again.
A quick rebuttal from Tampa would tie the game back up in the seventh. Kelvin Castro hit his first triple of the season, and scored when Jose Mojica hit a sacrifice fly to right.
The Flying Tigers took back the game, and won 5-3 in the top of the eighth. Hernan Perez extended the inning with a close play at first to put runners on the corners. TY Manager Luis Sojo disagreed with the call and was ejected from the game. Perez stole second, and a single from James McCann would score both runners for the 5-3 win. Coach Mario Garza was still not happy with the close call at first and was also ejected from the game.
Ramirez pitched well enough to get the win but got the no-decision after tossing six innings with eight strikeouts giving up four hits and three runs (one earned).
The fourth and final game of the series will be played Wednesday, May 16th at 11:00am at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
