Charleston, WV - The Hagerstown Suns (42-27) fell 5-3 to the West Virginia Power (23-47) in the final game of the first half at Appalachian Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Suns starting pitcher Alex Meyer struck out a career high nine batters in a no-decision, pitching five innings and allowing three runs on five hits. Reliever Pedro Encarnacion (0-1) suffered the loss, giving up a pair of runs in 2.1 innings pitched. Brian Goodwin led the Suns offense, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.
Power starting pitcher Nick Kingham also didn't factor in the decision, allowing one run on four hits and seven strike outs over 5.1 innings. Zac Fuesser (1-5) earned his first win despite giving up two runs in 1.2 innings out of the bullpen.
The Suns will begin their second half schedule at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, at Municipal Stadium against the Lakewood BlueClaws. A Thirsty Thursday, presented by Benny's Pub, will kick-off a four-game home-stand on Civil War Weekend.
