Entering the fourth inning down a run, the IronBirds' bats came to life against reliever Eduar Quinonez. Quinonez entered in the fourth inning for Jesse Hahn and immediately ran into trouble. The first seven IronBirds reached base against Quinonez and five of them came home to score. Tommy Winegardner drove in the IronBirds' first run of the night on a RBI double to right-center. Pedro Perez and Will Howard each singled in a run in the frame and Jerome Pena capped off the big inning with a two run single. The IronBirds plated five runs on five hits in the fourth and never looked back.
Just an inning after the Birds exploded for five runs, Orioles eight-round pick Torsten Boss stepped to the plate with one out in the fifth. Facing Quinonez, Boss crushed a pitch over the right field fence for his first professional home run. In his next at bat, Boss delivered again. With one down in the seven, Torsten Boss launched a two-run blast to right field to put the IronBirds in front, 8-2.
Jaime Esquivel picked up the win on the night for Aberdeen. Esquivel allowed two runs on six hits over five innings while striking out four. Zach Petersime allowed one run in three innings of relief and Jose Nivar closed out the game with a scoreless ninth inning.
