Senators Snap Three-Game Losing Skid with 7-3 Win over Portland
06/20/2012 10:13 PM ET
The Senators started fast and received strong pitching on their way to a 7-3 win over the Portland Sea Dogs on Wednesday night. The Sens scored a pair of runs in the first, one in the second, and four more in the third and cruised to the win. Pucetas gave the Sens bullpen some much needed rest by pitching into the seventh inning and earning his fifth win this season.

Jesus Valdez and Justin Bloxom both drove in runs in the first with singles giving the Senators a 2-0 lead. After Jeremy Hazelbaker homered leading off the bottom of the first to trim the Sens lead to 2-1, Devin Ivany hit a long home run over the Maine Monster in the second giving the Sens back a 3-1 lead.

In the third, Justin Bloxom singled in a pair of runs and Manny Mayorson doubled in a pair against Sea Dogs' starting pitcher, and loser, Drake Britton. That would be all the scoring for the Sens but it was more than enough for Pucetas, Zech Zinicola and Hector Nelo. Zinicola pitched 1.2 innings and allowed a hit while Nelo finished up, pitching the ninth inning and stranding a lead-off double by striking out the final two batters in the game.

Hazelbaker homered for a second time in the third trimming the lead to 7-2. Portland scored a run in the fourth on a double play and that was it for the scoring in the game for either time.

Harrisburg's offense broke out for 16 hits Wednesday night. Jeff Kobernus, Jesus Valdez, and Jimmy Van Ostrand paced the Sens attack with three hits each. Tim Pahuta, Bloxom and Ivany all had two hits in the win.

The Senators improved to 36-34 on the season while Portland falls to 29-41.

The final game of the three-game series is Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket beginning with the pregame show at 5:40 p.m. The game is also available on the Internet through the Senators website and on all mobile devices through the iHeart Radio app.
