Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (42-28) dropped their opening game of the second half, 5-3, to the Lakewood BlueClaws (27-43) at Municipal Stadium on Thursday evening.
Suns starting pitcher Kylin Turnbull (2-4) suffered the loss, allowing five runs on six hits over five innings in the start. Cutter Dykstra was the only Suns batter to have a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
BlueClaws starter Ervis Manzanillo (1-5) earned his first win of the season, giving up one run on three hits over six innings. Reliever Kenny Giles (2) notched his second save, pitching two scoreless innings to finish the game. First baseman Chris Duffy led the Lakewood attack going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.
The Suns will continue their series with the BlueClaws on Friday at 7:05 p.m. when RHP Taylor Hill (6-4, 4.41) takes the mound in search of his seventh win. BlueClaws' righty Ramon Oviedo (1-4, 9.27) will oppose him.
