EVERETT, Wash. - Despite a four-run effort by the Canadians in the top of the ninth, the AquaSox held on to win 6-5. The victory moved Everett to the top of the West Division of the Northwest League with a 9-3 record.

The Sox looked like they would close out the game until right-hander Brandon Plotz threw the potential third out over the head of Taylor Ard at first base, allowing two Canadians to score and narrowing the Sox' lead to 6-3.

Oliver Garcia relieved Plotz and gave up a two-out double to Vancouver cleanup hitter Balbino Fuenmayor to allow two more runs to score, making it a one-run ball game. Garcia didn't let it get any more interesting than that, striking out the next batter and earning his third save of the season.

Victor Sanchez (2-0, 3.50 ERA) rebounded from his previous shaky start and went six strong innings for the Sox, allowing one run on five hits while walking two and racking up eight strikeouts.

Sanchez struck out the first two batters to start the game, but three consecutive singles gave the C's an early 1-0 lead.

Vancouver starter Zack Breault (0-1, 8.10 ERA) cruised through the first three innings, not allowing a hit until Jean Acevedo's RBI-single in the bottom of the fourth. The Frogs came up with two more runs in the inning to take a 3-1 lead after four innings of play.

A home run in the bottom of the sixth by Marcus Littlewood and a couple of runs in the eighth boosted the Sox to a 6-1 lead, but Vancouver didn't go down without a fight in the ninth.

The home run was Littlewood's third of the year and now leads the team in the category.

Chris Taylor drew two walks in the game, and now leads the team with 14; the shortstop has worked a total of six walks in the last three games.

The Frogs will go for the sweep in the third and final game of the series Wednesday.
