The Cubs primary third baseman is currently on a season-high 10-game hitting streak. During the streak, the California native is batting .474 (18-for-38) with four doubles, a triple, three home runs, seven runs scored, and five RBI.
In his first triple-a season, Vitters is the I-Cubs active leader in batting average (.293), home runs (12), doubles (18) and RBI (40), playing in 76 of Iowa's 80 games. The 22-year-old infielder has appeared in 67 games at third base, three at first and four as a designated hitter. He is hitting .340 (49-for-144) at home this season.
This is Vitters' third professional All-Star selection. He was named a Midwest League mid-season All-Star in 2009 with Peoria and unanimously selected a Northwest League All-Star in 2008 with Boise.
The Iowa Cubs play game two of their three-game set with the Oklahoma City RedHawks tonight with a 7:05 p.m. start at Principal Park.
