Mets Defeat Miracle 5-2

Tyler Pill tossed six strong innings with seven strikeouts and Blake Forsythe had two hits and drove in two runs as the Mets went on the road and defeated the Fort Myers Miracle, 5-2 on Monday at Hammond Stadium.

Pill earned his first victory with the Mets and allowed two runs and four hits with one walk and six innings. Hamilton Bennett tossed two scoreless innings in relief and struck out three. Adam Kolarek picked up his 11th save with a scoreless ninth and one strikeout.

The Mets recorded 12 hits, led by Alonzo Harris who went 4-for-5 with a run, double, and RBI. Cory Vaughn had two hits, a run scored, and an RBI triple to pace the offense. Richard Lucas also registered a pair of hits with a run scored.

The Mets trailed 2-1 entering the fifth, before pushing across three runs to take the lead. Adam Loewen had an RBI groundout to tie the score. Vaughn followed with a triple to right to score Rylan Sandoval. Forysthe drilled a double to right to plate Vaughn.

Harris picked up an RBI single in the sixth inning to score Lucas to extend the Mets lead to 5-2.

The Mets will look to earn a series victory against the Miracle on Tuesday. Yohan Almonte is the scheduled starter for the Mets. The game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
