Sens Beat Bowie 8-6 for Fifth Straight Win
07/06/2012 1:03 AM ET
The Harrisburg Senators new found offense continues to strike gold, pounding out 13 hits in their 8-6 win over Bowie on Thursday night. The win was the Senators fifth straight matching a season-high. Every Senators starter had at least one hit in the game as the Sens move to 45-40 on the season. They look for their first three-game sweep of the season on Friday night.

The Senators took a 1-0 lead in the second on a triple by Sean Nicol and a Jeff Kobernus sacrifice fly. They scored three more in the fourth with Sandy Leon driving in a run with a sac fly, followed by a two-run home run off the bat of Justin Bloxom.

Senators starter Kevin Pucetas retired the first seven batters he faced before leaving the game with an apparent injury. Rob Gilliam relieved Pucetas and in the fourth, walked two batters and hit one before giving up a grand slam to Ryne Hughes tying the game.

The Sens offense wasn't done though, as Jimmy Van Ostrand homered in the sixth giving Harrisburg a 5-4 lead. They scored three more in the seventh with Eury Perez singling with one out, stealing second and third, and scoring on a Kobernus single. Destin Hood then doubled in Kobernus and eventually scored himself on a single by Sandy Leon.

Erik Davis earned the win and moved to 6-2 on the season with three scoreless innings of relief. Zech Zinicola pitched the eighth and ninth, allowing a two-run home run to Manny Machado in the eighth but then retired the final five batters.

Kobernus had three hits in the game for the Senators while Perez and Leon both had two hits.

Friday night the Senators look to extend their winning streak to a season-high six games with RH Ryan Tatusko on the mound. Game time on Friday night is at 7:05 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website and on all mobile devices through the iHeart Radio app.
