The BlueClaws led 3-2 entering the 8th inning, but Giles allowed the first three batters to reach to begin the inning. All told, Giles gave up two runs on three walks and two hits as West Virginia sent eight batters to the plate in the inning.
Kelly Dugan's opposite-field blast in the 5th inning turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 Lakewood lead, but that would be the only firepower the BlueClaws could muster in the ballgame. The BlueClaws and West Virginia Power will play Game 4 of a five-game series at Appalachian Power Park Saturday evening.
Ramon Oviedo (1-6, 9.17) has not won a start in his last seven appearances and will start for Lakewood. He is 0-6 and allowed 36 earned runs in his last 31.1 innings pitched (10.34 ERA) spanning seven starts. He will be opposed by West Virginia's Robby Rowland (4-2, 3.12).
First pitch for Saturday's game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Listen to all the action on WOBM 1160-AM and WOBM 1310-AM beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the BlueClaws Beat pre-game show.
