Colin Rodgers and Lincoln Rassi came within one strike of no-hitting the Bristol White Sox on Friday. The Royals won the game 5-2 and swept the series, but a two-out home run ended the no-hit bid.

Rodgers pitched brilliantly through six innings of work. The left-hander retired 18 of 19 hitters, striking out three in his first win of the year. Rodgers hit one batter, but otherwise worked five one-two-three innings.

Rassi came in for the seventh and continued Rodgers' dominance. He struck out four and took care of the first eight batters he faced to get the save.

White Sox left fielder Kale Kiser ended the no-hitter with two outs in the ninth. After Jake Brown battled back from a two-strike count to work a walk, Kiser homered over the right field wall.

The Royals did the majority of their damage in the second. After two lead-off walks, Fred Ford homered to left field. The shot was Ford's third of the year and gave Burlington a 3-0 lead. Burlington added two more runs in the third and fifth.

Burlington begins a new series on Saturday at home against the Bluefield Blue Jays. The Royals will be wearing special new jerseys for Hispanic Heritage night with "Los Reyes" written across the front. You can bid on and win those game worn jerseys, signed by players like Bubba Starling, Humberto Arteaga, Kenny Diekroeger and John Walter. You can get in on the action either at Saturday's game or online at burlingtonroyals.milbauctions.com. Bidding ends at 9 pm. First pitch tomorrow is at 7 pm.
