SAN BERNARDINO - The Rawhide would not be denied a series sweep this time around, as they blasted Inland Empire 13-2 on Monday night at San Manuel Stadium.
Anthony Meo (W, 5-4) was excellent once again for the Rawhide, earning his third win in a row. Meo tossed 5.2 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits. In his last three starts, Meo is 3-0 with a 1.37 ERA.
Garrett Weber broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run homer in the 4th inning off of 66ers starter Max Russell (L, 4-9) and the Rawhide never looked back from that point on. Weber now has five home runs and 32 RBI on the season with the Rawhide.
The Rawhide headed into the 5th inning, already leading 4-1. Gerson Montilla, who has proven to be a major threat at the dish for the Rawhide, led off the inning with a triple. Yazy Arbelo, who was named Player of the Week earlier Monday morning, doubled to bring home Montilla. The 66ers gave the Rawhide a little help, committing two errors in the inning. Montilla would eventually come to the plate again, this time hitting a double to plate Ryan LaPensee. The Rawhide exploded for eight runs in the inning, virtually shutting the door on the 66ers and ensuring the series sweep.
Blake Cooper, D.J. Johnson, and Bo Schultz combined to pitch 3.1 innings of one-hit, scoreless ball.
The Rawhide will have the day off on Tuesday before returning home on Wednesday to face Lancaster for a three-game series. First pitch will be at 7 pm, and gates will open at 6 pm.
