07/10/2012 12:21 PM ET

July 11, 2012 - After going 4-2 on their recent six-game homestand, the Clearwater Threshers are in first place in the FSL North for the first time this season.

By winning two out of three games in Lakeland and two out of three in Brevard, the Threshers improved to 11-8 in the second half, and lead the FSL North by a half game over the Flying Tigers.

Several Threshers players have started the month of July hitting at a scorching pace, and have become major catalysts in pushing their team to the top. Second baseman Albert Cartwright is batting .394 on the month, with seven extra-base hits in his last 10 games. Catcher Cameron Rupp is hitting a scorching .400 on the month, with three homers, six doubles, and 12 RBI's over his last 10 games. Other steady contributors in the lineup include Carlos Alonso, Zach Collier, and Jim Murphy.

On the pitching side, the Threshers have been receiving strong performances from their entire starting pitching staff. After starting the season with inconsistent numbers, right-hander Brody Colvin has allowed just two earned runs over his last three starts, striking out nineteen batters over those nineteen innings. Lefty Adam Morgan won the FSL Pitcher of the Week award after two starts, in which he threw 13 shutout innings while striking out 16.

The Threshers returned home Tuesday and will now prepare for an eight-game homestand, the longest of the season at Bright House Field. They squad will square off against the Fort Myers Miracle for four games, followed by four against the Bradenton Marauders.

The staff at Bright House Field has some major promotions on tap for the homestand, highlighted by Pitch for Pink 2012 on Friday, July 13. Make sure to join us for this incredible evening as we team up with Morton Plant Mease to raise funds for breast cancer research, while also honoring survivors and raffling away tons of great items. The Threshers players will be donning unique pink jerseys for the matchup, which will be available for purchase in a silent auction during the early portions of the game.
