Greensboro, NC - The Hagerstown Suns (56-34) held a one run lead in the 10th inning but the Greensboro Grasshoppers (53-38) walked-off, 4-3, on first baseman Ryan Rieger's two-run home run at NewBridge Bank Park on Thursday night.
Suns starting pitcher Taylor Hill did not factor in the decision after allowing two runs on six hits in 6.2 innings of work. Lefty Ben Hawkins (3-2) suffered the loss out of the bullpen. Reigning South Atlantic League Player of the Week, Steven Souza, Jr., blasted his 16th home run of the season and extended his hitting streak to eight games.
Grasshoppers' starter Jose Urena (5-4) ended the night with a no-decision, allowing two runs on three hits, three walks and five strike outs over six innings of work. Reliever James Nygren (6-1) earned the win.
The Suns and Grasshoppers will complete the four-game series on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. when LHP Bobby Hansen, Jr. (2-0, 4.13) takes the mound against Greensboro's RHP Austin Brice (6-3, 4.24).
