The Naturals jumped out to an early three-run lead in the first three innings. Manny Pina blasted his third home run of the season, a solo shot, and his second in his last two games. Brian Fletcher added a long ball of his own, a two-run shot in the bottom of the third inning to make it a 3-0 game.
The Travelers answered back with a pair of big innings. They picked up four runs in the top of the fourth inning, two of which came on an RBI double from Ryan Mount, to take a 4-3 lead. They tacked on three more runs in the top of the fifth inning, two coming on a home run from Casey Haerther to make it a 7-3 game.
The Naturals answered with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Fletcher and Johnny Whittleman each hit RBI singles to pull the Naturals back withing two at 7-5. The Travelers added another run getting an RBI single from Renny Osuna top of the sixth to make it 8-5.
Noel Arugelles (2-10) went four and two-thirds innings allowing seven hits and seven runs, while issuing six walks and striking out one. His counter part Orangel Arenas (3-7) went seven innings allowing eight hits and five runs, while striking out five.
The Travelers capitalized on a pair of Naturals errors by relief pitcher Ryan Dennick to tack on three more runs in the top of the eighth inning, and push the lead to 11-5. Fletcher answered in the bottom half of the inning with another solo home run this time to right field to make it an 11-6 contest. The four RBI's by Fletcher were the most he had in a game since he drove in seven runs for the Kane County Cougars on June 25.
The Naturals continue their four-game series at home against the Arkansas Travelers on Monday at 7:05 PM. They will send right-hander Sugar Ray Marimon (1-2, 4.29) to the mound against the Travelers right-hander Matt Oye (257, 4.63). The game can be heard on ESPN 92.1 The Ticket.
