Werth played with the P-Nats on July 21st going 1-for-3 with an RBI against Myrtle Beach in his first game back from a broken left wrist. In seven games with Syracuse (AAA), Werth hit .238 with a .404 on-base percentage with 4 RBI.
Werth, 33, is in his second season in the Nationals organization after playing the previous four seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies. Before his injury, Werth was hitting .276 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 27 games this season. Werth enjoyed his most productive season in 2009 with Philadelphia setting career-highs with 36 home runs and 99 runs batted in.
Werth played in the Carolina League earlier in his career. While with the Baltimore Orioles organization, Werth played two seasons with the Frederick Keys in 1999 and 2000 compiling 93 hits in 90 total games.
