Andres Blanco drilled a solo homer to right in the bottom of the tenth inning on Wednesday night, lifting Lehigh Valley to a 3-2 win over the PawSox. The homer came off loser Alex Wilson (5-3). The loss drops Pawtucket (62-50) into a first place tie with the idle Yankees. (61-49). Blanco had struck out in his previous three at bats.
Former Pawtucket third baseman Hector Luna blasted a solo homer in the second to make it 1-0. In the fourth Michael Spidale singled to score Steve Susdorf. The PawSox tied it with a pair of runs in the sixth inning. Mauro Gomez and J.C. Linares each had an RBI. Reliever Joe Savery earned the win with one scoreless inning of relief.
The series will wrap up on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. Chris Hernandez (1-0) will face Tyler Cloyd (10-1).
