Other nominees for Batter of the Month were outfielder Yorman Rodriguez and second baseman Ryan Wright. Other nominees for Pitcher of the Month were Mike Dennhardt and Carlos Contreras.
Perez and Gonzalez will be honored tonight during an inning break of the Dragons game. There will also be a Player of the Month luncheon tomorrow (Friday) at 12:00 noon at Frisch's Big Boy, 2861 Wilmington Pike in Dayton. Fans may attend to meet the winning players and receive autographs. The players will also be available to the media for interviews.
Perez batted .263 with five doubles, two triples, three home runs, nine runs batted, and six stolen bases in July. Perez, 20, was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 26th round of the 2011 draft out of College of the Canyons, where he earned conference Player of the Year honors.
Gonzalez posted a record of 3-1 with a 2.50 earned run average over eight appearances (two starts) in July. He is 22 years old and a product of Cal State Northridge. He was the Reds 21st round draft pick in 2011.
