Starter Jake Hermsen earned his first professional win, pitching five shutout innings. The lefty allowed just four hits and struck out four in the outing.
Jharel Cotton was solid out of the bullpen providing three innings of relief. He allowed just one run on three hits, striking out four.
Owen Jones pitched a hitless ninth, whiffing two, for his third save.
The Raptors scored three runs in the first and rode them to the end. Delvis Morales started the game with a bunt single. Catcher Travis Lane tried to throw out Morales, but his throw was errant allowing Morales to get to second. Eric Smith then singled in Morales to center. Lane received the throw to center and tried to catch Smith a first. However, his throw was errant again, allowing Smith to get to third. While Jeremy Rathjen was hitting, a wild pitch from Spencer Patton let Smith score. Rathjen worked a walk, and Jesus Valdez followed by getting hit by a pitch. As Tae-Hyeok Nam struck out, Rathjen and Valdez moved up on a wild pitch. Corey Seager ended the scoring with a sacrifice fly to center, giving the Raptors a 3-0 lead.
The Raptors will travel to Grand Junction for a three-game series against the Rockies, starting Friday. Game starts at 7:05 and can be heard on 97.5 Fox Sports Radio.
