Offense sputters in 3-1 loss to Red Wings
08/03/2012 8:53 PM ET

The Toledo offense just couldn't get things done against Rochester on Friday night. Despite another great outing from Adam Wilk, the Hens fell 3-1 at Fifth Third Field.

Wilk worked seven innings, giving up just two runs on eight hits while striking out eight Red Wing batters. Wilk now has a 2.95 ERA with a 4-11 record in the 2012 season.

Wilk was bested by Shairon Martis who also pitched seven innings. Martis gave up just one run, Bryan Holaday's second homer of the year, while fanning eight.

The Wings scored a run in the fourth and fifth inning which was enough for the Rochester bullpen as Bobby Lanigan shut down the Hens in the final innings.

Toledo and Rochester battle again on Saturday night with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.

Game Notes

  • Al Alberquerque is expected to join Toledo on Saturday from Lakeland.
  • Danny Worth exteneded his hit streak to six games.
  • LHP Casey Crosby is scheduled to start for the Hens on Saturday.
