Rain, Richmond Defeat the Sens 6-3
08/05/2012 4:50 PM ET
Sunday afternoon the Senators dropped a rain-shortened 6-3 decision to the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The game went into a rain delay in the middle of the sixth inning, then was called after a 47-minute delay. Harrisburg was looking for their first home sweep this season, but a four-run fifth inning for Richmond sent them to the win.

Richmond plated two runs in the second to take a 2-0 off Senators' starter Danny Rosenbaum. Harrisburg came back in the third with a run when Sean Nicol singled in Danny Rosenbaum.

Richmond came up with four in the fifth, knocking out Danny Rosenbaum and giving Richmond a 6-1 lead. The Sens came back with two in the fifth when Brian Goodwin tripled in Jonny Tucker and then scored on Nicol's second hit of the game.

Unfortunately for the Senators, they didn't have a chance to rally further as torrential rains hit the Harrisburg area.

The Senators drop to 55-60 while Richmond improves to 57-58.

The teams both enjoy an off day tomorrow then begin a three-game series Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. in Richmond with RH Chien-Ming Wang on the hill for the Senators. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website and on all mobile phones with the iHeart Radio app beginning at 6:45 p.m.
