FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne TinCaps broke even Sunday afternoon at Parkview Field, splitting two games against the Bowling Green Hot Rods. The TinCaps won a suspended game, halted by rain Saturday night, by a final of 7-2. In Sunday's second game, a seven-inning affair, Bowling Green prevailed, 7-4.

Fort Wayne led 2-0 when play was suspended last night in the top of the second inning Saturday, scoring both runs off starter Ryan Carpenter (10-5). Play resumed Sunday with James Needy (5-1) relieving TinCaps reliever Matt Wisler. Needy entered with two on and two out, and he struck out Tyler Goeddel to end the threat.

The TinCaps extended their lead in the bottom of the third. Tyler Stubblefield led off with a single, moving to third on a single by Mike Gallic. Stubblefield then scored on a sacrifice fly by Yeison Asencio. Austin Hedges singled, and Duanel Jones followed with a two-run double to stretch the Fort Wayne lead to 5-0.

Kyle Gaedele doubled to lead off the bottom of the fourth, and scored on a double by Mike Gallic. Lee Orr tacked on another run with a solo home run, his team-leading ninth roundtripper in the bottom of the fifth.

Bowling Green got on the board in the sixth inning. With two outs, Drew Vettleson hit a solo home run, and Alejandro Segovia followed with a single. Segovia stole second base, and scored on a single by Cameron Seitzer. Luis De La Cruz and Daniel Cropper combined for three innings of scoreless relief to finish game one for Fort Wayne.

The Hot Rods started game two with one run in the first inning against Cody Hebner. Juniel Querecuto singled, moved to second base on a Jeff Malm walk, and scored on a single by Cameron Seitzer. Bowling Green added another run in the second when Tyler Goeddel doubled, scoring on a Jake Hager single.

Bowling Green broke the game open in the third inning. With one out, Hebner (7-6) issued back-to-back walks to Cameron Seitzer and Matt Rice. Josh Sale then hit a single to load the bases, and Taylor Motter followed with a single to score Seitzer. The next batter, Tyler Goeddel , hit a three-run triple up the left field line. Goeddel scored on a single by Jake Hager, as Bowling Green got four straight hits to chase Hebner.

The TinCaps were unable to score on Hot Rods starter Parker Markel (8-5) until the sixth inning, when Travis Whitmore led off with a single. Tyler Stubblefield was then hit in the head with a pitch. Duanel Jones pinch-ran for Stubblefield, and Kyle Gaedele hit a double to score Whitmore. Jones scored on a groudout by Travis Jankowski, and Gaedele scored when Matt Colantonio reached on an error. Gaedele plated an RBI single in the seventh, pulling the score to 7-4.

The teams are back in action Monday night at Parkview field. The scheduled starters are Frank Garces for Fort Wayne and Jake Floethe for Bowling Green for the 7:05 p.m. start.
