BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Auburn Doubledays (28-19) fell in the final game of a three-game set to the Brooklyn Cyclones (30-18) on Monday afternoon, 3-1, losing three games in-a-row for the first time all summer. Over the course of the series the Doubledays got outscored 15-2.

On Monday, Auburn grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first to take a lead for the first time in the series. The Doubledays collected three consecutive singles to begin the game and load the bases with no outs. Then, LF Estarlin Martinez hit a groundout to short to drive home 2B Mike McQuillan from third and put the Doubledays ahead.

The Auburn lead lasted until the fourth, when Brooklyn connected on back-to-back solo homeruns to go ahead for good. The two homeruns were hit by catcher Kevin Plawecki and LF Stefan Sabol, giving the Cyclones three homeruns in total for the series. The final run of the day for Brooklyn scored in the fifth on a sacrifice fly after they had loaded the bases with no outs to begin the inning.

Starting RHP David Fischer (1-3) took the loss for Auburn, going five innings and allowing three earned runs on six hits, walking one and striking out three. Brooklyn starter RHP Rainy Lara (6-1) earned the win by going six innings and allowing the one earned run on five hits while striking out three. Three other Cyclones pitcher combined to no-hit the Doubledays over the final three innings, with LHP David Wynn striking out the side in the ninth to earn his first save of the summer.

No save was needed on Sunday night in a rain-shortened eight-inning game, as Brooklyn took a 6-0 lead after two innings and cruised to an 8-0 win. It was the second time this summer the Doubledays had been shutout in a game, as Auburn was limited to just four hits.

The Cyclones started former Doubledays and current Mets LHP Johan Santana on Sunday, who was making a rehab start after spraining his ankle in a game with the Mets on July 21 against the Dodgers. Santana ended up tossing three innings of one-hit ball, before throwing the remainder of a simulated game in the bullpen. RHP Julian Hilario (1-3) earned the win for Brooklyn by working the remaining five innings, giving up three hits and three walks, and striking out three. LHP Brett Mooneyham (1-1) suffered the loss for Auburn as he allowed six runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks in 1.2 innings pitched.

The Doubledays return home to begin a two game series with Jamestown Jammers on Tuesday, August 7. Auburn will send RHP Pedro Encarnacion (3-1) to the mound for his eighth start of the year. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm. All Tuesday home games are "two-for-Tuesdays", with beers, sodas, slushies, and burgers all available for $2.00 a piece. Fans can also purchase two General Admissions tickets for the price of one. Tickets available by calling the Doubledays box office at 315-255-2489 or by going online to www.auburndoubledays.com.
