Lisson homers in defeat

SPRINGDALE, AR- The Frisco RoughRiders used a four-run top of the ninth inning to defeat the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Sunday night at Arvest Ballpark. The win was the first for the RoughRiders when trailing after eight innings this season.

The RoughRiders struck first in the top of the fifth inning against Noel Arguelles. Val Majewski reached on an error and came around to score on a double by Jared Prince to make it 1-0. Jurickson Profar followed with an RBI double to make it 2-0.

Arguelles worked seven innings for the second consecutive start. The left-hander allowed seven hits and two runs, while walking five and striking out five.

The Naturals loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning. Paulo Orlando singled, Mario Lisson worked a walk, and Julio Rodriguez walked as well. Carlo Testa was hit by a pitch to force in Orlando and make it 2-1. Whit Merrifield also worked a walk that drove home Lisson to tie the game at two.

Lisson gave the Naturals their first lead of the night blasting a two-run home run over the left field fence to make it 4-2. The home run was the tenth of the season for Lisson.

The RoughRiders rallied back in the top of the ninth inning. Chris McGuiness blasted a grand slam to right center field to put Frisco back in front 6-4. Brendan Lafferty (0-1) took the loss working two innings allowing three hits and four runs, three of which were earned. Ross Wolf (3-1) worked and inning and a third allowing one hit and striking out three to pick up the victory.

The Naturals will wrap-up their three-game series against the Frisco RoughRiders on Sunday night at 7:05 PM. Left-hander Justin Marks (3-4, 3.86) will get the start for the Naturals against the RoughRiders right-hander Cody Buckel (3-5, 5.13). The game can be heard on ESPN 92.1 The Ticket.
