Hens, Chiefs split in Syracuse
08/15/2012 10:04 PM ET

The Hens split the first two games of their series in Syracuse on Wednesday night after falling 1-0 in the first game and hanging on 4-3 in the second.

The Hens dropped the first game after a Chiefs homer spoiled an otherwise solid pitching performance by Casey Crosby. Crosby walked one and struck out four over six innings of work.

The second game saw more excitement after the Mud Hens overcame a 2-0 first inning deficit to take a 3-2 lead in the fourth.

Cale Iorg doubled in a run for Toledo, while Jerad Head continued to produce with a two-run single in the fourth. Don Kelly added an insurance run with an RBI single in the seventh.

Zach Miner surrendered a run in the ninth, but he hung on to shut the door on the Chiefs for his second save of the season.

The Hens face Syracuse again tomorrow in game three of the series as they look to continue their winning ways. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and Duane Below will make the start for Toledo.

Game Notes

  • The loss in the first game snapped the Hens season-high six game win streak.
  • Justin Henry went 4-for-4 with two runs scored in the second game of the double header.
