RockHounds Big Inning Beats Naturals
Yem Prades scores two runs and knocks in one in loss

MIDLAND, TX- The Midland RockHounds used a five-run bottom of the sixth inning to defeat the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 7-5 on Wednesday night. The Naturals have five more games remaining on their current road trip.

The Naturals jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Yem Prades led off the inning with a triple and was driven home by a Brian Fletcher RBI single. Fletcher later came around to score on an RBI double by Paulo Orlando.

Tyler Ladendorf and Anthony Aliotti smacked back-to-back doubles for Midland to score their first run in the bottom half of the inning to make it 2-1. Orlando drove home Prades again with an RBI single in the top of the third to push the Naturals lead back to 3-1.

Leonardo Gil delivered an RBI groundout to make it a one run game again making it 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Manny Pina blasted a solo home run for the Naturals in the top of the sixth inning to again push the lead back to two runs.

The RockHounds exploded for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Matt Rizzotti hit a solo home run to cut the deficit to 4-3. Dusty Coleman also blasted a three-run home run in the five-run inning that gave the RockHounds a 7-4 lead.

Mike Montgomery went five innings for the Naturals allowing 10 hits and four runs, while striking out five. His counter part Carlos Hernandez (6-4) went six innings allowing six hits and four runs, while issuing two walks and fanning five. Ethan Hollingsworth (3-8) took the loss allowing three runs in two-thirds of an inning.

The Naturals rallied in the top of the ninth inning. Rey Navarro led off the inning with a single and moved to third on a pinch-hit single by Kevin Kouzmanoff. Prades followed with an RBI single to score Navarro and make it a 7-5 contest. The Naturals put the tying run on first base, but got no closer. Jonathan Ortiz struck out Whit Merrifield and Brian Fletcher to get out of the jam. The save was the fifteenth of the season for Ortiz.

The Naturals will continue a three-game series against the Midland RockHounds on Thursday night at 7:00 PM. Right-hander JC Sulbaran (0-0, 2.25) will get the start for the Naturals against the RockHounds left-hander Fabio Castro (1-4, 4.73). The game can be heard on ESPN 92.1 The Ticket.
