Aaron Newcomb surrendered seven runs in 2.1 innings, getting handed his first professional loss in the Voyagers 12-4 victory.
Newcomb had been lights out this season, but the 1st half North division champions touched him up for seven runs on eight hits in his shortest outing of the season.
The Voyagers scored two in the second inning to take an early lead, but the Owlz answered back with two of their own on four straight hits. Michael Snyder tripled home Jonathan Walsh and Michael Bolaski singled in Snyder. Bolaski finished the night 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Snyder and Walsh had two hits apiece.
Great Falls took the lead for good in the top of the 3rd, scoring five runs off Newcomb. Brent Tanner led the way for Great Falls, going 4-for-4 with three runs, while Tyler Williams also had four hits, knocking in two. Micah Johnson hit his 2nd home run of the series in the game.
The Owlz will now host Helena for four games beginning on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. It will be a Papa Murphy's Pizza Pack Night, as well as a Back to School Item Giveaway.
