Pulaski stranded ten runners on the night, five of which were in scoring position. Credit the Danville pitching staff as they combined for 12 strikeouts, gave up a mere six hits, and walked only three batters. The Braves 2012 first round draft pick Lucas Sims put together an impressive start. Earning the win while throwing five innings allowing four hits, one walk, and fanning six.
Jabari Henry (2-4, 2 2B) and Dario Pizzano (2-3, 2B, BB) accounted for two-thirds of the Mariners hits on the night. Henry extended his hitting streak to six games while Pizzano extended his to 15. Pizzano has managed to improve his batting average to .340 and an on base percentage to .441, ranking him second in both categories among all Appalachian League hitters.
The Mariners will travel to Bristol tomorrow, marking the start of a six game road stand. They will be returning to Historic Calfee Park to take on the Twins of Elizabethtown Thursday, August 23rd at 7 p.m. And don't forget that we will be having "Pink in the Park" night on the 23rd; all fans that wear pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness will receive two dollars off of their admission!
