Joe O'Brien Field will be the location of a Minor League Baseball fan's dream the next three nights as the number one and two picks of the Major League Baseball Draft will be playing in what will be a critical Appalachian League series which will certainly have playoff implications. The Greeneville Astros come to Elizabethton trailing the Johnson City Cardinals by half a game and the first place Twins by eight games in the Western Division standings.
The number one overall pick in the 2012 Major League Baseball draft, shortshop Carolos Correa Jr., for the Greeneville Astros and the number two overall pick in this year's draft, Elizabethton Twins outfielder Byron Buxton, will certainly set the stage for a professional baseball fans buffet of excitement. "This is one of those series that we simply want everyone throughout our area to know about," said Mike Mains, Elizabethton Twins General Manager. "Young, old and all ages in between will see two great teams on the field and most certainly two future Major League Baseball Stars."
