The Clippers showed a lot of resiliency coming back from a 6-0 deficit, but it was Indianapolis that walked-off with an 8-6 victor over Columbus.
The Indians would waste no time scoring when they came to bat in the bottom of the first. After singles by Chase d'Arnaud and Brock Holt, Alex Presley drove home both runners with a two run triple down the right field line.
Presley later scored on a Dallas McPherson RBI groundout to second. Brandon Boggs and Yamaico Navarro then went back-to-back, launching solo bombs over the left field wall. When the dust settled, Indianapolis had staked itself to an early 5-0 lead.
The power display would continue for the Indians as Dallas McPherson sent another long ball over the left field wall to extend his club's lead to 6-0.
Down by six, Columbus staged a miraculous rally. Tim Fedroff plated the first run of the night for Columbus in the top of the eighth. Gregorio Petit would add a three run homer in the top of the ninth. The comeback was completed when, later on the inning, Matt Pagnozzi clubbed a two run shot, knotting things at 6-6.
The series between these two IL West rivals will continue on Sunday afternoon. Clippers left-hander T.J. McFarland (6-6, 5.20) will face off against Indy right-hander James VandenHurk (12-4, 3.04). First pitch is scheduled for 1:15 pm.
