The Blue Jays scored on a fielding error by Greeneville in the third inning, a solo homer from Jordan Leyland in the fifth inning and a Matthew Dean ground out in the sixth inning. They would need all three runs to hold off Greeneville's upcoming rally.
The Astros began to make a comeback in the seventh inning when Rio Ruiz scored on an Ariel Ovando ground out. Then, in the ninth inning, Ruiz connected on a RBI-single with one out, but the Astros left the tying run stranded on second.
Bluefield's Deivy Estrada gave up no runs on two hits over six innings and had 11 strikeouts as he earned the win. Tucker Jensen pitched the final three innings and gave up two runs on four hits as he picked up the save.
The Astros face the Blue Jays in game two of their final homestand on Monday at 7:00pm. For more information on the Greeneville Astros, please call (423) 638-0411.
