Pulaski, VA- In front of a season-high 1,257 fans at Historic Calfee Park Saturday night, the Mariners were able to snap a four game home losing skid as they defeated the Elizabethton Twins 4-1 in the last home game of the season.

Pulaski starter Rigoberto Garcia thrived under the pressure of a packed house as he put together his best outing of the year. The 6'5'' Dominican threw six innings while facing a mere twenty Elizabethton batters giving up only two hits, walking none, and striking out eight. Garcia finishes the year with a 5-4 record while throwing 54 1/3 innings, giving up 35 ER, and striking out 46 batters.

Down 4-1 in the eighth, Elizabethton threatened to mount a two-out rally as they loaded the bases with SS Niko Goodrum at-bat. Goodrum even went ahead 3-0 in the count only to have M's reliever Islexiel Gonzalez battle back to even the count at 3-2. To the apprehension of the Twins dugout, Goodrum hit a towering pop fly to right field, extinguishing the threat and ultimately their chance at a win.

The Mariners will travel to Kingsport Tennessee to take on the Mets tomorrow, marking the start of their last series of the 2012 series.

WP: Garcia (5-4) LP: Arevalo (1-3) S: Gonzalez (2)
