Senators Snap Four-Game Losing Streak with 2-1 Win
08/28/2012 10:09 PM ET
Fine pitching from the Sens bullpen and timely wild pitches helped the Sens snap their four-game losing streak on Tuesday in Richmond with a 2-1 win. The Senators (62-73) scored what became the winning run in the eighth inning on two wild pitches, allowing Jose Lozada to score the winning run. Trevor Holder pitched into the sixth inning, scattering seven hits before leaving the game. He didn't factor in the decision.

Harrisburg struck first in the first when Anthony Rendon tripled with two outs and scored on a single by Justin Bloxom. That was about all the offense the Senators would mount until the eighth inning, though they did have two hits with two outs in the fifth.

Richmond came back and scored the tying run in the first on a two-out single by Mark Minicozzi, driving in Daniel Mayora.

The game was even until the eighth when with one out, Brian Goodwin reach on an error. He was forced at second on a ground ball by Jose Lozada, putting Lozada at first with two outs. Lozada promptly stole second, his first stolen base of the season, then was wild pitched to third and scored on a ball four-wild pitch to Anthony Rendon giving the Sens a 2-1 lead.

Trevor Holder pitched into the sixth and was lifted with two on and no outs. Pat McCoy came on and after a ground out to second moving runners to second and third, McCoy issued an intentional walk to load the bases, then struck out Nick Liles and Chris Heston to end the inning.

Marcos Frias pitched a perfect seventh and turned the game over to Ryan Tatusko. Tatusko delivered a perfect eighth, then allowed a one-out single in the ninth before striking out pinch-hitter Luke Anders and ending the game with a Ryan Cavan flyball to right field. Marcos Frias moved to 4-4 with the win in relief and Tatusko earned his first save on the season.

Game three of the series is Wednesday night with RH Ryan Perry on the hill for Harrisburg opposed by LH Mike Kickham for Richmond. Game time on Wednesday is 7:05 p.m. with the pregame show beginning at 6:45 p.m. on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website and on iHeart Radio.
