Another Tough Night in Aberdeen; Birds Fall in Extras
Cyclones sweep two-game series

ABERDEEN, MD- After three scoreless innings, the Cyclones struck first when 1B Jayce Boyd smacked his second home run of the series to deep center field. Birds held the Cyclones to a single run and exited the fourth inning, 1-0. Another single by the Cylcones in the fifth sustained the Cyclones lead. After six scoreless frames, the IronBirds rallied back in the sixth inning to steal the lead at, 3-2. Cyclones tied up the game in the seventh inning. The Cyclones broke the tie in the top of the eleventh inning and secured the win.

RHP Branden Kline (0-0, 7.50) started for the Ironbirds on Tuesday night. Kline is a native of Frederick, MD and was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2nd round (65th overall) of the 2012 MLB Draft. Kline exited Tuesday night's game after three innings with 3IP, 2H, 0R, 2BB and 3K. Luis Cessa (4-4, 2.50) took the mound for the Cylcones.

RF Maikis De La Cruz smacked a tripled off LHP Cameron Coffey, Cyclones put another run on the board in the top of the fifth when CF Brandon Nimmo grabbed an RBI doubled and allowed De La Cruz to score.

An RBI double by CF Anthony Vega in the bottom of the sixth gave the Birds their first run of the game and put two runners in scoring position for the Birds. Shortly after, DH Torsten Boss launched a fly ball to right field and scored his fourth triple of the season bringing LF Will Howard and CF Anthony Vega to home plate and grabbing the lead for the IronBirds, 3-2.

Cyclones tied the game in the top of seventh after a sacrifice fly by 3B Dimas Ponce brought 2B Jeff Reynolds to home plate.

In the top of the eleventh inning the Cyclones broke the tie and plated three runs bringing the final score to 6-3.

Tuesday nights win went to RHP Matthew Bowman (2-2) and the tough loss was assigned to LHP Bennett Perry (0-3). LHP John Mincone grabbed the save for the Cylcones.

Millersville, Maryland native, LHP Josh Hader in his third appearance with the Birds pitched 1.1 scoreless innings and has yet to allow a run in three innings with the IronBirds.

The IronBirds will begin their two-game series against the Staten Island Yankees on Wednesday, August 29 at Ripken Stadium. RHP David Richardson (3-3, 4.63) will take the mound for the Birds while LHP Tim Flight (1-5, 5.97) will take the mound for the Yankees. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. and coverage on the IronBirds Radio Network will begin at 6:50 p.m.
