Jupiter, Fla.- Palm Beach Cardinals pitcher Chris Corrigan has thrown the sixth perfect game in Florida State League history, retiring all 27 batters faced in the Cardinals 8-0 victory over the Charlotte Stone Crabs at Charlotte Sports Park.

Corrigan finished the game with a season-high nine strikeouts, five coming after the fifth inning. The 24-year-old right-hander pitcher was efficient, as he threw 94 pitches to complete the first perfect game in Palm Beach Cardinals history.

After retiring the first 26 Stone Crabs batters, Robi Estrada was the last batter that stood in front of Corrigan. With a 1-2 count, Corrigan coaxed a swinging strike from the switch-hitting infielder to complete history.

The Humble, TX native began the season as a reliever, but after a brief sting in Double-A Springfield, Corrigan returned to Palm Beach as starter. In 20 appearances, Corrigan has posted a 4-8 record with 4.02 ERA. He has limited hitters to a messily .222 batting average, while recording 75 strikeouts 85 innings.

Corrigan was a 30th round selection in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of San Jacinto College North.

Corrigan and the Cardinals will conclude the season with a four-game series against the Jupiter Hammerheads, starting tonight at 6:35 p.m. at Roger Dean Stadium.
