RedHawks Walk Over Express, 11-5
08/31/2012 10:48 PM ET

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Oklahoma City RedHawks (76-64) showed patience at the plate and used several walks by the Round Rock Express (68-73) to guide the way to an 11-5 win before 9,886 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark Friday night.

The RedHawks have now won six straight games as they continue their late playoff push. They remain 1.5 games back of first-place Albuquerque with just three games remaining.

The RedHawks scored five times in the first inning despite collecting just one hit. Round Rock pitcher Zach Jackson tied a Pacific Coast League record with six walks in an inning, including five straight at one point.

Jackson (7-13) became the sixth pitcher in league history with that many free passes in a frame and the first to do so since 2001. Three players drew bases loaded walks. Matt Downs also collected an RBI single and Carlos Corporan hit a sac fly.

J.D. Martinez added an RBI single the second to extend the lead to 6-0.

The Express got on the board in the fourth, but the RedHawks responded with five more in their next at-bat. Mike Hessman connected on his 34th homer of the season to make it 8-1.

Later in the inning, J.B. Shuck hit an RBI double, and Corporan drove in two more with a double of his own.

Jackson would end up being charged with 11 runs over 3.1 innings. The lefty allowed six hits with eight walks and two strikeouts. He also hit two batters and only 42 of his 93 pitchers were strikes.

RedHawks pitcher Rudy Owens had no such problems, tossing six strong innings. Owens (2-3) earned his second straight win after allowing just one run and four hits. He struck out three without a walk.

Round Rock did score four times in the eighth, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
