GreenJackets Drop Third Straight
09/02/2012 9:45 PM ET

Augusta, GA - Casey McGehee is proving to be a big help for the Charleston RiverDogs during this brief interruption in his major league career. After singling home the tying run and scoring the go-ahead run in Saturday's game, his two-run double in the third inning on Sunday gave the RiverDogs the lead for good in a 5-1 win for Charleston over the Augusta GreenJackets.

The win for Charleston is their third straight over the GreenJackets and sends Augusta into their series finale with a 69-69 overall record and needing a win to ensure a winning season.

Charleston got on the board in the second inning on Eduardo Sosa's two-out RBI single to take a 1-0 lead. The GreenJackets tied things in the bottom half of the inning. Myles Schroder led off with a single, stole second and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Schroder scored on Elliott Blair's sacrifice fly to tie the game at one.

After Kevin Couture got the first two outs of the third inning, a fielding error by Carlos Willoughby extended the inning. Ben Gamel singled and McGehee doubled home both runners to put the RiverDogs ahead 3-1. Couture walked two to load the bases before getting out of the inning on a fly out. He departed after allowing the first two hitters of the fourth to reach base. In his three innings, Couture (2-7) allowed three runs - one earned - on five hits and a pair of walks.

The GreenJackets got into the Charleston bullpen early, with RiverDogs starter Brett Gerritse firing just four innings. Zach Arneson (1-0) followed and in his first appearance of the season, got the win by firing two scoreless innings. Augusta had their best chance to tie the game in the seventh, getting back-to-back one-out hits. With runners at first and second, Carlos Willoughby struck out and Jose Flores grounded out to end the inning.

Charleston got two more runs with two outs in the eighth on a two-RBI single from Nick McCoy to extend their lead to four runs.

The GreenJackets send Paul Davis (6-7, 3.56) to the mound in Monday's season finale against Bryan Mitchell (8-11, 4.82). It'll be a Feed Your Face Monday as fans can enjoy unlimited amounts of select concessions items for just the price of admission from the time gates open at 1 p.m. until the end of the sixth inning.
