Idaho Falls scored two runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to hand the Owlz their 5th straight loss on Wednesday evening at Melaleuca Field.
The Owlz looked poised to end a four-game losing streak, breaking a 3-3 tie in the top of the 9th on an error that scored Chevy Clarke. However, Jake Boyd loaded the bases with nobody out and everything fell apart. Orem brought in Caleb Bushyhead as a 5th infielder and he got a ball hit by Jerico Blanco, but his throw one-hopped Anthony Bemboom and allowed Carlos Garcia to score. Boyd struck out Parker Morin, but Ethan Chapman's ground ball to Bolaski to try and cut down Elier Hernandez was dropped by Bemboom and gave the Chukars a walk-off victory.
Orem scored first in the 3rd inning on a RBI double by Sherman Johnson that scored Bemboom. Johnson singled home Jose Rondon two innings later to put Orem ahead 2-0. Johnson finished the night 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Idaho Falls came storming back in the 6th, scoring two runs off of Aaron Newcomb. Tyler Smith led off the inning with his first home run of the year and Chapman singled and scored on a fielder's choice ground out by Nick Cuckovich.
The Chukars pulled ahead 3-2 in the 7th on a solo home run by Jared Schlehuber off of Garrett Baker, but Orem came back in the 8th with a solo home run by Joel Capote.
Orem has now lost five in a row, but will look to end its season on a winning note in the season finale on Thursday night in Idaho Falls. It will be a 6:15 first pitch. You can listen to all the action online at audio.oremowlz.com.
